*Prices are A$ before postage and seller costs. Seven or eight selected item-page checks per priced group; these are not market-wide medians. Ordinary Adidas pairs only. Linen, cotton and silk groups include blends. A ratio compares 90 days of sold listings with one day of stock; it is not a sale probability or time-to-sale measure.

There is no minimum sales count for other sourcing leads. The sports comparisons below include smaller markets; inspect the exact design or model and refresh sold prices before buying.

Price repair work and packed postage before paying. Sports examples use 20 inspected sale pages, not a random sample. Any unquantified buyer protection fee remains in its displayed amount.

Six checks before the till

1. Read the labels

Brand, model or fit, fibre percentages, size and style code. Search the exact garment, not the brand alone.

2. Inspect the weak points

Collar, cuffs, underarms, seat, inner thighs, seams and hems. Look for thinning, stains, pinholes, shrinkage and odour.

3. Test and measure

Work zips, check elastic and drawcords, find missing belts, slips or hoods. Measure altered hems and actual waist or chest.

4. Compare like with like

Same cut, fabric, size range, condition and completeness. Ordinary stock cannot borrow a rare print or collaboration price.

5. Read the sold result

Match pre-owned Australian stock. Keep postage separate. Hidden accepted offers and seller-ended listings do not establish a usable sold price.

6. Work backwards

Sale price minus selling, packaging, repair and postage shortfall minus your retained target = maximum buy price.

Example ceiling: A$25 cautious item price − A$3 selling/packaging allowance − A$15 for time and overheads = A$7 maximum buy, if there are no repair costs and the buyer covers postage. Substitute your own costs. Lower-price groups need especially cheap tickets.
