Linen pattern and a qualifying sportswear comparison

Checked 6 November 2026. Return to the guide.

Interpretation

Prior qualifying linen searches include Country Road shirts/trousers, Gorman dresses, Sussan trousers, Trenery shirts, Sportscraft trousers and Witchery trousers. These targeted searches are not a random or controlled comparison of fabrics. They establish leads within the sampled garment groups, not a fabric-caused sales advantage. Taking Shape's earlier trouser search includes mixed fabrics. Date windows cover late winter to spring; no matched comparison across seasons was performed.

Collection and screening

Clothing, Shoes & Accessories; item location Australia; pre-owned condition codes 2990, 3000, 3010. Sold and completed filters only on the sold side. Card dates 9 August–6 November 2026 inclusive. Every available page reviewed: Adidas two sold/four active; Uniqlo linen one sold/two active; Sportsgirl linen one sold/three active. Distinct item numbers per side. Relists can receive new numbers. Dated sold badges support the count; the count does not individually verify every transaction.

Exact brand spelling, case-insensitive (Uni Qlo and Sports Girl spacing also allowed). Uniqlo requires linen and shirt/blouse in the title; Sportsgirl requires linen and dress. Adidas requires track pants, track bottoms or tracksuit pants/bottoms, including joined spellings. Linen blends allowed. Every retained card must say Pre-owned. Exclusions: identifiable new/NWT/BNWT/NWOT, sets, bundles, bonus garments, multiple items/pairs, jumpers/sweaters and identifiable baby/child/teen/youth stock. Like/as/near/very near/close to brand new descriptions are permitted with Pre-owned condition. Other new wording is conservatively excluded. Uniqlo excludes dresses/pants/shorts/skirts; Sportsgirl excludes pants/shorts/skirts/jumpsuits; Adidas excludes leggings, shorts, skirts, jackets, hoodies, shirts, tops, jerseys, socks and shoes. Incomplete titles and ambiguous age descriptions can limit matching. Counts reflect identifiable titles rather than a physical inspection.

Adidas pages 198706732274 and 206526499236 said the seller ended the listing because it was no longer available. Both were removed from count and price evidence. Eight usable price pages were selected across August–November sold-card dates, initially at spaced positions in the eligible result-card sequence, replacing these two failed pages with further eligible candidates. Eligible price cards omitted offer, coupon and read wording; repeated titles were removed. Result-card order is not guaranteed to be strictly chronological. A named Ivy Park collaboration is kept separately from the seven ordinary pairs. No other selected page named a collaboration. This is a small convenience sample across models and sizes, not a population estimate.

Separately itemised buyer protection fees were subtracted; otherwise displayed sold amounts retained without inferring a fee. Postage and seller costs excluded. Item-page and card dates can differ with displayed time zones; counts use card dates. Salvos links establish Australian charity-shop stock, not chain-wide availability or sold prices.

Linen candidates that missed the thresholds

Two initial volume checks

These are initial eBay page-heading totals, not fully screened counts. No active comparison was needed because each was already below 100 sold results.

• Uniqlo merino jumpers: 13 initial sold results.
• Hard Yakka trousers: 58 initial sold results.
