eBay has expanded its latest Magical Listing experience to new and reactivated sellers in Australia. The company confirmed that expansion in its 28 October 2026 business update. It is a useful development for people starting or returning to selling, but it does not mean every Australian account has an identical listing screen. Source: eBay’s third-quarter update.
For clothing resellers, the practical question is what to check after a draft appears. A suggested title can save typing; it cannot establish the condition, measurements or composition of the garment in your hands.
For a broader introduction to the tools, use our guide to AI-written eBay listings. This update focuses on the newly confirmed Australian rollout.
What changed in 2026?
When eBay described the earlier US beta of its next-generation experience, it explained that a photo could produce suggestions for the title, category, item specifics and pricing. The October report confirms expanded access in Australia for the named seller group. Treat the report date as confirmation of the expansion, rather than an exact activation date for your account. If you cannot see that experience, continue with the listing tools available to you. The announcement alone is not a reason to delete drafts, recreate stock or assume your account is faulty.
This is different from eBay’s older AI description tool
Australian sellers may already recognise a button that helps write a description. eBay announced Australian access to AI-generated descriptions and background removal in September 2023. Its guidance also says sellers remain responsible for accuracy when using AI assistance. Source: eBay’s Australian AI feature announcement.
The distinction matters when following tutorials. A guide about generating prose inside an existing listing form may not describe the newer photo-led experience. Check which task the tool actually performs in your account before comparing results.
Prepare the evidence before generating a draft
Keep the garment, photographs and notes together. A useful clothing photo set shows the whole item, the brand label, the size and fibre labels, relevant fasteners and any flaws.
Write down information a general photograph may not establish: the actual flat measurements, a missing button, a repaired seam or a mark hidden inside a fold. Use our phone photography guide to prepare the images and the measurement guide for a consistent measuring method.
Review the draft against the physical item
Use this checklist regardless of which AI listing tool prepared the draft.
| Draft field | What to verify | Example of a correction |
|---|---|---|
| Brand | Read the actual label | Remove a brand inferred only from a familiar-looking logo |
| Item type and category | Check what the garment actually is | Correct a shirt jacket categorised as an ordinary shirt |
| Size | Compare the selected size with the tag and measurements | Keep tagged size and measured dimensions distinct |
| Material | Read the fibre composition | Replace an unsupported pure-wool claim with the label’s actual blend |
| Condition | Inspect wear and disclose each known flaw | Add the loose cuff stitching omitted from the draft |
| Price | Research close sold comparisons | Adjust for a missing belt or altered hem |
| Postage | Weigh and measure the packed item | Replace an unpackaged weight estimate |
These are hypothetical checks, not findings from a test of eBay’s tool. We have not measured its accuracy or the time it saves.
A worked clothing review
Imagine you are preparing a blue jumper with a size M label. The fibre tag reads 80% wool and 20% nylon, there is visible pilling under the arms, and the flat pit-to-pit measurement is 51 cm.
If a draft calls it “pure wool, excellent condition, oversized”, each claim needs checking. A more useful description would record the labelled blend, the observed pilling and the measurement. An oversized appearance in a photograph does not prove a particular fit.
For example:
Blue wool-blend jumper, labelled size M. Fibre label: 80% wool, 20% nylon. Pilling under both arms, shown in the detail photos. Approximate pit-to-pit width 51 cm, measured flat without stretching.
This is an illustrative description for the imaginary garment. Adapt the structure to facts you can verify. Our condition-writing guide has more examples.
Treat a price suggestion as a research starting point
Look for sold items with comparable brand, style, size and condition. Include postage when comparing the buyer’s total cost. A higher asking price on an unsold item is not evidence that your garment will achieve it.
Use the sold-listings research guide before accepting a suggestion for an unusual, altered or damaged item. A useful price decision also needs your stock cost and the costs of completing the sale.
Where Listalong fits after the eBay draft
Once the eBay listing is accurate, Listalong can help cross-list suitable stock to Depop. Check the resulting advert’s size, condition, photos, price and shipping details before relying on it. Correct information at the start makes it easier to keep both adverts consistent.
For a separate approach to preparing batches of eBay listings, Listalong Snap is currently in private iPhone testing. Its public release date and pricing have not been announced. The existing cross-listing service and Snap have different roles.

Frequently asked questions
Is eBay’s new AI listing experience available to every Australian seller?
eBay’s 28 October 2026 report names new and reactivated Australian listers. It does not establish that every established seller has the same listing experience. Check the tools available in your account.
Is Magical Listing the same as an AI-written description?
No. eBay has offered Australian sellers AI description assistance since 2023. Its newer Magical Listing experience can suggest several listing fields from a photo, rather than only helping write the description.
Should I accept an AI-suggested clothing size or material?
Only after checking it against the actual garment. Read the labels, measure where useful and remove unsupported claims before publishing.
